Before you plan a trip things you should know:
·         It is closed on weekends.
·         Also closed during winters
·         Have Pakistani as well as Chinese currency
·         Have plenty of snacks and water with you.
·         Keep warm clothes.

Khunjerab Pass:
Khunjerab Pass is one of the highest border crossing the world, which is located on Karakorum Mountains to the northern border of Pakistan with China about 4600 meter above sea level. It is the only and important gateway on the famous silk road. The word khunjerab is basically combination of two words of local wakhi language where khun means blood while jerav means creek coming from water.

Importance of khunjerab pass:
Khunjerab pass plays a vital role in trade activities between Pakistan and China. Khunjerab pass is a long connection between Hindu Kush and Karakoram Mountains. Moreover, this long road is an embodiment of Chinese engineering and dedication. And this road passes through the most spectacular mountain scenes in the world.

Things to Remember:
Talking about temperature, this long pass is covered with heavy snow during winters which is why it is closed for tourist during this season. As the temperature there is cold throughout the year so all you need to do is be very careful about what you’re wearing and type of clothes you’re carrying with you. Don’t forget to keep warm clothes with you even if it’s June or July. As, it is located above sea level so shortage of oxygen is another important factor one needs to keep in mind. And it is the highest fortified pass in the world (highest point on the Karakoram highway).
